Halfway to Dead

Not really.

When I turned 20 years old, someone told me, "Hey! That's halfway to 40. And 40's halfway to dead."

That stuck with us, so it's something M. and I always say.

Today is M.'s 40th birthday, and in honor of this momentous occasion, I present to you:

Happy Fath- Wait. What?!

This morning started off in a hurry, as M. and I slept in a bit and then had to dash to make it to church for the early service.

The boys and I, excited to celebrate Father's Day with M., bought and wrapped a gift for him. We called out "Happy Father's Day" to him at random moments of the morning, and teased him with his wrapped present on the counter. "You can't open it until after church! But it's greeeaaat! You'll looovvveee it!" You know the teasing I'm talking about.

We enjoyed doughnuts and cold milk for breakfast, and tried to guess where he'd want to go for Father's Day lunch.

M. took our excitement rather good naturedly, though he was somewhat subdued. I assumed it was because he's sort of an understated guy and it's hard to get him excited about some things. Sometimes I feel like Chester the terrier (from the Looney Tunes cartoons) bouncing around Spike the bulldog.


Anyway, we were all happy and excited for M. until we got to church, and it was mentioned that Father's Day was coming up next weekend....

Huh?

Next weekend?

I looked across the row at M., and watched a grin spread slowly across his face.

What??? How did he get a show???

I know, right?

I so want to do this! If anyone's organizing a dance mob in my area, count me in!

We're leaving you now.

Yes, after 11 long months we are finally moving away from the 1900 House. I'll post more next week, but for now you must be content with pictures and sketchy posting, dear readers.

Posting may be slim next week, as we'll be shuttling our belongings to the new digs, and our cable provider won't be out to set up the internet until Thursday. (How will I cope!!!!)
