Not Your Traditional "First Day of School" Photos.

Today was our first day of school. This year, Braden is in 7th grade, Brogan is in 2nd grade, and Colson is doing kindergarten work. (He's not actually in kindergarten, but he really, really wanted to do school with his borthers, so I promised him he could do some kindergarten work this year.)

I'd love to post a thorough "First Day of School" entry, but dogggone it- I'm tired! Really tired! This co-ordinating three grade levels of school is exhausting! Braden can work independently, but Colson needs me to be there every moment. Brogan's a little more independent, but not much.

Random side note: As I typed the above paragraph, Madeline Kahn's song, "I'm Tired" from the movie Blazing Saddles was going around in my head. I thought I'd link it here, but as I watched the You Tube clip it occured to me that she's not just singing about being tired. I mean, she is, but she's tired for a reason. I had no idea! The context of that song went way over my head when I was a kid! Watch it here, if you like.

Today we started school at 8:00 am. Colson was done by lunchtime (He does less than an hour of actual work, but he gets a lot of breaks to spread the work time out.), Brogan was done by 1:30, and Braden finished at 4:00. I should be in bed now. I want to be in bed now!

But I just had to come and post a couple of photos from today.

This first one was taken this morning during Braden's math lesson. Braden's taking Algebra 1 this year, and apparently thought this was the best position in which to concentrate.

"So, Brogan.... tell me what you think of your spelling lesson."

I'm not showing this photo to my son, because he would want to join in the fun. lol

That is very funny--they got your sense of humor.

How do you keep your kitchen so clean during school? Seriously! lol

My kitchen? Clean?

Not here. We're still working on cleaning and unpacking upstairs, so the counters are full of folded laundry in baskets, waiting to go upstairs.

And did you see my empty snack bowl on the table? It stayed there for much of the day.

I think I just got pictures from a good angle, I guess. :)

I miss you guys! Its great to see a picture of the boys! Hey, where is Colson's picture?

Its about time you get going with school? Or are you packing already for the next adventure?

Love the pictures, he he! And I'm with you on the tired part. Yesterday I started composing a summary of our first week of school (which was actually last week), but I was too tired to finish it. I am liking Tapestry of Grace, but my boys are taking sooooo looooong to do their work. I hope that will improve. My oldest needs just as much help as the younger kids, or he thinks he does.

I did notice the laundry basket on the counter and thought, wow that is unusual for Hillary. Only when she is unpacking! :)

Your kitchen: clean.

I am NOT taking a photo of us doing school. We can hardly see any table surface. I usually have dishes stacked in the sink. And the cupboard by my table is usually piled with more books.

Yeah, your kitchen is clean. lol
