Life in a Construction Zone

It just keeps getting more and more excitng for the boys.

One morning recently Braden came racing into the house. "Mom! there's a backhoe in our yard!!"

"Uh-huh!"

"No! Really! Come see!"

Well, there really was a backhoe in our yard. After discovering why the backhoe was there, there was nothing for the boys to do but sit back and watch him work his magic.

The backhoe was just beginning his job in this shot. It was an all day project, digging down to the gas line, then hand digging and working on the line, then filling the hole and sodding the lawn. This neighborhood is a little boy's dream!

Hillary, after seeing this picture, I just had to tell you my backhoe story!

The first year that dh and I were married, we decided we needed life insurance. So the nurse comes to our house for the health tests. She takes all her samples and starts asking questions.... Do you drink? Fly an airplane? Live more than 20 miles from work? Ever used a backhoe?

WHAT? No, lady, I'm a secretary in a small office - definitely NOT a construction type. So I looked at quizzically and said, "A backhoe? Noooooooo...."

To which she patiently replied, "No, no, dear. Have you ever used TOBACCO?"

Mamabird, that's too funny! I'd've wondered too. Since when is using a backhoe on a risky behavior list! :)

I've been chuckling all day about that.

Thanks!
Hillary :)
